Sunday noon
I buried a Healthy Times cookie
meant for you
and laid down tobacco
where I return animals
from road to earth

I honour your spirit
remembering how
happily you greeted me
on the street
begging only a cookie
In return for your love

You my buddy
set free from pain
Saturday morning
while I at Lake Erie
watched a dog swim
joyfully
