Seated Figure in Studio, Katherine MacDonald

NUDE

by Norman Brown

a woman
sitting naked in an empty room
the eyes say it all saying nothing
there is nothing here just country matters and
the musty smell of autumn apples on the ground

 there is no story here
no remembrance of days past
no expectation, no promises of things to come
no misplaced nostalgia
there’s nothing here because it’s all here
it is a cry before it’s heard

 there is no story here
this empty woman naked in an empty room
no come hither, come sit with me, come be with me
make love to me, please notice me.
there is nothing here just cold country matters and
the musty smell of autumn apples
lying on the ground
