by Ed Woods

geological history
in ceramic color stripes
inspired excitement
between mundane layers
curving the shoreline
in opal and blue striations
forming a marvel of survival
one solitary tree
blessed to a constant view
of beauty over time
maintains a careful watch
where few ever visit
an ancient tree
in an ancient land
