And Then Comes the Waiting by Stella Mazur Preda

A tattered chair cocoons her fragility. Swept clean of many yesteryears hollow rooms bear muted witness. Her son is late. Night shadows spill across the sky coerce the departure of lingering light. Fifty years and three suitcases huddle in stoic resignation on the front porch. Together they wait.
